Hello and welcome! I am so excited to be starting this new adventure and so grateful you’ve come to join along! I’m Stephanie, the mind and owner behind daffodilSEID. You can read more about me here!

So what is daffodilSEID?
A daffodil is “a bulbous plant that typically bears bright yellow flowers with a bright yellow center” (Bing definition). The symbolism of a daffodil flower is of new beginnings and rebirth. It is often the first flower to bloom in Spring.
The most common way to plant daffodils is by bulbs. Planting the seeds requires more time and work, but doing it this way can produce new varieties of flowers.

SEID is both an acronym and a symbolism. It stands for Stephanie, Elijah, Isaiah, Daniel.

I have been working as an air traffic controller for 7 years now. I went to school for it. I spent years of on the job training and on the job practice to get to where I am now in my career. It’s probably going to seem crazy (it feels crazy to type it even) to hear that this blog and business are starting as I leave this air traffic controller career.
I have always loved to decorate and design spaces. I used to create my furniture and room out of graph paper and arrange and rearrange, and play with all sorts of colors. I would draw our kitchen and create new layouts and “paint” the walls. As I got older I still have always loved it, but it took a big back burner to other areas of life. Our home has always been nice and livable, but not a priority. I was getting through school, through training, and then having babies and working ridiculous hours as an air traffic controller. Home projects have always been my favorite thing to do, but when my husband and I are both working 6 days and opposite shifts many times with babies that require a lot of attention, there just isn’t much left.
Speaking of these babies, they have a crazy way of changing priorities and shifting perspectives. Six days and night shifts and opposite schedules and working weird hours started to feel soul sucking. I needed something else. I needed to be with my family.

Our society tends to place a really high value on working more and making more money. I’m all for hard work and I get that we need money. But I felt myself asking what the true cost of this money was. I felt myself not being fully satisfied with life or present with my family.

So, I have decided to leave air traffic control and daffodilSEID is born. This space is to share all things home – my décor projects both at my home and others’ and my journey to interior design. I’ll be sharing what I’m learning and how I’m figuring it out. Expect to see some shopping and style because it all goes hand in hand, and also some life at home.
A beautiful home is nothing without function and meaning. I believe everyone should have a beautiful home they love and feel happiness and peace in.
