Ah the summer dress. So easy, pretty, and comfortable! I love the instant girlyness that comes with wearing a dress! They are one of the things I miss the most when the temperatures start to drop. As much as I love leggings and jeans and sweaters, I do miss throwing on a pretty summer dress! And I don’t know about you, but I tend to just stop wearing them as soon as it starts to get colder.

I started thinking about ways to keep them in rotation in my wardrobe now that its starting to get colder here and came up with a few tips! It’ll require some layering, but it will be so worth it in the end!

Dress // Similar sweater – mine is old // Boots // Hat

Dress // Sweatshirt // Boots // Sneakers
Other Ideas for Styling the Summer Dress for Cooler Temps
Wear a long cardigan over it. The length will provide you with some additional warmth and I love the layer. I always wear bike shorts under my dresses because kids, but when the temperature start to drop these will be one extra layer of warmth!
If the temps are still decent, booties or a cute pair of sneakers are adorable with a dress! But as the temps drop switch them out for knee high riding boots or heeled boots. Or even over the knee boots for added coverage and warmth!
Tights or leggings are great to pair under a dress to keep you warm. You can even find some lined with fleece for added warmth!
Add on the accessories! Grab a scarf and hat to finish off your look!
These might not work for the coldest days still because you don’t want to over do it on the layers and wear every single one I talked about at the same time, but with some carefully placed layers, your summer dress just gained a few wears!
