So you made a list of all of the things you wanted to do with your family this holiday season. All of the traditions you wanted to start with your kids. And then life happened and it’s Christmas eve and you didn’t complete that list. Did you just fail at Christmas? Ruin it for your kids?
Not even close. They probably don’t even know or remember half of the things on the list anyway. We are so hard on ourselves as moms to make everything perfect for our kids. To do all of the activities. Decorate, make cookies, go see lights, find some snow, etc, etc, etc, . All of this on top of the usual daily chores and cooking and all of that. And sure, it’s fun – I love the extraness of the holidays – but it can be a lot. And it’s definitely not all neccessary.
There is no prize for fanciest wrapping or most cookies baked or most Christmas crafts done. And even if there was, who needs it?
You did not fail because you didn’t do it all. So what if the list isn’t complete? Who cares. If a little laughter on Christmas is the only tradition you keep up with, then you have won. You are doing awesome mama, this Christmas and always!
