I finished my first interior decorating project – a master bedroom! A friend of mine let me finish her master bedroom for her to get the experience, and I am so grateful. I love the way it turned out

She had already painted the room the pretty dark blue, and she had the rug, the bed, and the dressers. In her bathroom she had pretty rose gold accents and a beautiful modern chandelier. These were all my starting points here.
I started with developing a color palette. The colors I went with were navy, blush pink, copper, and gold.
I chose combine a mix of modern elements with vintage, natural elements.
One of the first items I found for this room was this lamp from Poly and Bark. I loved the copper color and the unique shape! I combined this with the antique brass sconce on the wall for bedside lighting. The lamp lends practicality while the sconce breaths romance.
One of the first things I saw in my head here was blush pink bedding. I’m glad both her and her husband were good with that because I love the way it turned out. I went with this set from TJ Max because it was a reasonable price and still really pretty. They told me they weren’t really strict bed makers and didn’t regularly use a comforter, so I didn’t want this to be a larger part of their budget.
The other thing I envisioned in here were the mirrors. With it being a darker color on the walls I wanted to reflect some light around the room. Mirrors are great in a darker colored room for highlighting the light that is present. I love this for a bedroom. Our rooms are our havens. Our place to recharge and the first place we see as we start our day. I love the reminder of this highlighted light to seek and highlight the light in our lives throughout the day.
New furniture wasn’t in the budget or the plan for now, so we just updated what they had. The nightstands were painted a beautiful high gloss white. We added the gorgeous hardware to all of the dresser drawers. This was an Etsy find, a little pricier, but so worth it. I love the impact it made on the dressers and the room.
The trunk at the foot of the bed was a piece she already had. It is a family heirloom carved trunk. I absolutely love it highlighted at the foot of the bed.
The art. I found these two art pieces on Etsy that incorporated the color palette and also added some basic white frames for her to add in her own family photos to. Side note – I loved that these are plexiglass instead of glass because toddlers. Also they come with a mat for a 5×7 photo and a 4×6 photo. Really great deal if you need simple frames. And they come in black too! Over the bed I added the wood signs for that added touch of warmth that wood gives as well as some whimsy and humor in the wording of the signs.
I love the way this room turned out, and I am again so grateful for the opportunity to do it. I had so much fun picking out all of the items and then seeing it all come together!
