Recently I got together with my friend Cameron of Cameron Storie Photography to create a pretty Fall vignette for mini photo shoot sessions. I had so much fun designing these! Fall is such a fun season to decorate for and creating a vignette like this allows so much creativity! Plus – seeing the cute kiddos surrounded by pumpkins is always fun! And any excuse to buy a million pumpkins is a win in my book.

Anyway, I wanted to sort of walk through the process of what we did and what worked and didn’t work so you can take these same principles and maybe create a little backyard session for your own kiddos! These same principles can also be applied to your front porch or even your mantle or dining table. I also love to create these vignettes on accent pieces like a console table or dining room sideboard.
As always, I scour the internet, books, and magazines for inspiration before I start any project. After some searching I came up with the idea for a Fall Fairytale theme.
My vision was romantic, natural, woodsy and a little whimsical.
Next, I took some inventory of what I already had. In this case, I had the loveseat already just sitting in my house not really being used. The end table was in my son’s bedroom, and I had the box and the sign. I also had the buffalo check pillows.

Then we filled it with natural items like the pumpkins and the mums. These are such versatile things to build around because they can also serve as décor around your house.
I got the pumpkin and thankful pillow covers from Amazon, and then I went shopping at Hobby Lobby to fill in the blanks.
I really wanted a floral arrangement for the table that was a little more wispy and whimsical, so I found these faux stems and a metallic planter.

Want to have your photo taken here?

If you are local to Albuquerque contact me to schedule a time! We are setting this up in a gorgeous fall location, and Cameron is taking photos on October 23 and November 2nd. Sessions are 15 min and $75.
Can’t make it but want to create your own?
Obviously you could follow what I did to create the same scene, but here’s a couple of other easy things you could do to create your own vignette!
A pumpkin patch – Pick up a bunch of pumpkins and some straw bales and stack and arrange them around each other. This is super simple and you can put them on your porch when you are done! Or even just create the vignette around your front door! I love porch photos!
A truck – If you have a truck open up the bed and pile in some blankets, pillows, a straw bale or two, and some pumpkins and snap away!
Hope to see you at one of our mini sessions! And if you create your own send me pics!
