I don’t know about you, but growing up I never made my own Valentine’s cards. They were always the ones in the box with kittens or characters on them. So when we got an email from Elijah’s school a couple weeks ago about their Valentine’s celebration saying they encouraged us to make our own cards with the kids, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand I was excited to make something with him because he genuinely loves to make any sort of craft project. On the other hand, making 30 Valentine’s with a 4 year old is no easy task.
I came up with an easy solution that involved crafting and cuteness without crafting our lives away until Valentine’s Day. Now, I’m sharing it with you in case you also happen to be in the same boat and need to ‘make’ Valentine’s cards this week!
As usual I headed to Pinterest for inspiration. Elijah LOVES dinosaurs, so I started there and found one that said something about rawring and Valentine’s Day with a little dinosaur toy. We aren’t alllowed to send treats (which I think is awesome), so I decided to use stickers instead.
I created the graphic using Canva and printed them out, 4 to a page. I originally wanted to print them directly onto cardstock, but the cardstock I got was too big for my printer. I had Elijah cut all of the printed cards, and I cut the cardstock into quarters and we glued the paper cards onto the cardstock. Bonus points if you use patterned scissors to cut out the cardstock!
I found these stickers on Amazon and let Elijah go to town sticking stickers on each card. It’s OK if the stickers are sideways and upside down! Let it go and let them learn and do it themselves!! They will gain so much more that way, and you will save yourself so much stress.
On the back he wrote his name which was great practice for him writing his name!
They came out so cute, and involved minimal crafting experience!
I created a couple of other printable Valentine cards for you to use if dinos aren’t your thing! You could leave these as is glued onto cardstock or add in some heart stickers to personalize them a little more!
