Ok guys, it’s that time of year where I’ve been bit by the organization bug. I’m slowly moving through all the rooms in my house and purging and organizing. I was putting laundry away the other day and realizing my closet and dresser are a mess. It’s all just kind of shoved in there with no real placement or anything. Wayfair contacted me and asked me to do a post on my closet organization wish list and at I first thought it was fake – Wayfair? I have so many items from here, I love this company! But second, thought it was the perfect opportunity to create a post about my purging and organizing methods, and to create sort of a dream closet mood board!

Purge
The first step is to purge. I get rid of everything I can’t remember recently wearing, anything that is uncomfortable, doesn’t fit, or that I just don’t love.
A lot of my clothes are either from 4+ years ago before having kids or they are things I bought specifically to work with a bump or breastfeeding. Your body changes(and style!) after having kids and there are a bunch of items that just don’t really work anymore!
Always repurpose the items you are purging. You can give to somewhere like Goodwill, sell them on Poshmark or Thred Up(this is really easy – just order a ‘clean out kit’. They send you a bag, you put your stuff in, and send it back. You don’t get much, but they also responsibly recycle anything that doesn’t sell. Simple and easy and off your to do list!), or have a garage sale!
A quick note on selling – if you decide to sell it, then sell it. Don’t price it outrageously high and refuse to bargain. Get rid of it! A little money and crossing an item off your list is better than it sitting in your closet still for another year.

Organize
Next, organize what you have with what you have. Before going out and buying any organization products organize what’s left. I put sweaters with sweaters, tanks with tanks, etc. Get your closet into it’s best shape so you can see what isn’t working so well, and determine what products would help you the best.

Shopping List/Dream Closet

After doing the above steps, I figured out that I needed some drawer organizers for my socks, underwear, camis, and workout clothes. Shelf dividers were also something that I thought will help me with some of my denim that I am storing on my shelves. I could use some new laundry hampers as mine are broken and ripped, and some pretty baskets to hold my scarves and accessories.
As far as dream closet goes, these closet systems are beautiful! The Closet Maid ones are all designed to mix and match with each other, and I love the option of having drawers and shelves in the closet.
The shoe rack that I linked would replace our shelving unit in the front (and all of the rinky dink shoe racks we have).

I love the laundry hampers that are a pretty wicker or look like a cabinet! I also added a rolling one because I think this would be peerrrfect if you have a one story house! Also the shelf on this one? I don’t know about you guys, but I have things (mostly my comfy pants/pjs) that I re wear multiple times before they are ‘dirty’. I don’t like putting them back in the drawer, but the ground where they usually end up takes me back to being a teenager. This shelf is the perfect ‘dirty but not dirty’ shelf!
Just for fun and because we’re thinking practical AND dream closet, I added a light fixture and wallpaper to my list. This wallpaper has daffodils on it and I love it! I also love this leopard paper! A closet is the perfect place for fun prints like these.
Lastly, because I don’t actually own these things I hesitated with creating and sharing this list, but like I said above we have so many items from Wayfair that we love. Our bed, nightstands, and dresser are all from them. Our dining room table, chairs, and setee is also from Wayfair and we love them. The customer service and return policy is awesome. I really love this company!
