A goal is a dream with a plan. I’ve done a lot of dreaming about things I want for my life and business, but in the past I’ve not done a lot of planning for it. So now I’m making plans and taking actions. I’ve been writing in my Start Today journal about my 10 year goals, and it really helps me to stay focused and keep thinking about them. I also wanted to have some goals that are for 2020 specifically. Some are lofty, some are small, but none of them are going to happen by accident. I also chose a word for the year this year for the first time, so I’ll share my reasons behind that!
Word – Perseverance
There’s a Jay Z quote (that I saw in Rachel Hollis’ office photo) that says “the genius thing we did was we didn’t give up.” That simple. Just. Don’t. Quit. I feel like sometimes we tend to quit when things get hard, or think that it’s just not meant for us. In reality if we just kept pushing, we would get to our goals.
This year I am going to persevere with my goals. I’m going to force myself to push through and accomplish them. To not quit.
The reason I chose this is starting a business is hard. Starting a business while taking care of two tornado toddlers nicknamed chaos and mayhem is even harder. I need this little reminder to keep going. This one word I can say to myself to keep on trucking.
I also chose this word because my husband is going to be going on a health journey. He will be having procedures on his back every 4-6 weeks to remove a vascular malformation. We’ve gone through a few so far, and it’s not easy, and we’ve almost quit. But it will be worth it a million times over in the end to not quit. Perseverance is needed here. You and your partner can absolutely have different words, but this word feels right for both of us this year.

There they are. All 20 of them. I debated sharing them because they’re personal. But I want them out there for a little accountability for me., and also to hopefully inspire someone else to create some goals. Did you set goals for the year? Or a word? Share in the comments and we can help to keep each other accountable. And if you haven’t it’s not too late!
